There is a full complement of stainless steel appliances including gas range, a full fridge and a bar fridge, dishwasher and compacter. The centre island accommodates six seats down one side and has an inset Wolf gas range and oven with overhead stainless steel hood fan.

The upper living area includes another full bathroom, two good-sized bedrooms and a loft overlooking the living area below which currently accommodates two additional beds. There is an additional loft area above the second floor accessed by a ladder and used as a sleeping area.

The 630sqft guest house is as beautifully appointed as the main residence. The main sleeping area within this studio-style suite is surrounded by large windows and has direct access to the integrated oceanside deck. It features a free-standing wood stove, large screen TV, radiant heaters. Separating the sleeping area from the master ensuite is a cleverly constructed kitchenette as well as a wardrobe and storage space finished in edge grain fir. The kitchenette has a microwave, sink and fridge. The ensuite features terra cotta tile floors, a large tiled walk-in shower, cedar walls with extensive high-quality edge vertical grain fir features throughout, granite countertops, a skylight, a soaker claw tub – very lavish.

Notable recent upgrades include a new 12kw continuous duty fully automated generator integrated with a new solar system incorporating 18 panels, a 24 piece bank of batteries and state of the art inverter system. All decks and walkways have been replaced and the roof was redone 5 years ago. Fire fighting and suppression systems equipment are in place and there is a recently updated septic system.

The generator shed is located well away from the home. It has a concrete tile roof and a fire suppression system. Additional outbuildings include a garden shed that also has a large covered open workspace and woodshed. The garden shed accommodates an additional fridge and freezer.

Private boats are typically on mooring buoys. The ocean drops off relatively quickly from this location, which makes for easy access to and from a boat during all tides from the private mooring buoy located just offshore.

Hernando is one of the most amazing examples of what the BC coast has to offer. Most of the island is beautifully forested in old second growth fir and cedar, with a small mix of other coniferous and deciduous vegetation. A few areas throughout provide some grassland. The topography is very friendly, generally level to moderately sloped and there is a network of roads which meander through the forest across the island.

The shoreline is a diverse mix of everything; from lots of low bank, easy walk-on beachfront to moderately higher bank frontage with in most cases easy beach access along portions of the eastern and southern shoreline and a small portion of the northern shoreline towards the east. The beaches range from powder-white sand to rock and pebble, with massive tidal reefs which extend off the south and eastern shorelines towards Savary Island.

Ownership opportunities on Hernando are limited in number and exclusive. The island is very well managed and the ownership is structured in such a way that it complements the peace, quiet and enjoyment of the owners as well as the integrity of the property overall.
