This great little cabin is in the heart of the Owen Bay community on Sonora Island. Owen Bay is located on the south side of Sonora Island on Okisolo Channel, just above Hole in the Wall. Owen Bay has a long history; at one point it was a thriving coastal community of about 1200 people and home to a school, church and general store. It has evolved into a quiet, coastal vacation and recreation community with a small complement of full-time residents. There are government dock facilities located in the bay.

The property is located a short 10-minute walk from the government dock in Owen Bay. A good road leads to and from the property and the dock. Some property owners in the area utilize small vehicles or ATVs.

This beautifully forested 1.75-acre property is quite diverse, with towering hemlock, fir and cedar. There is easy level access to the cabin from the road. The topography climbs up to an elevation of approx. 150ft. From this location there are partial views of the Yucalta Rapids through the trees. Concrete pads and piers have been constructed for the future development of another building or patio deck/view platform.

The 712sqft two storey cabin appears to be well constructed and is finished in cedar with a metal roof. It is situated on concrete pads and footings. Interior wood is fir, cedar and pine (there is no drywall) and the cabin has thermal windows and vinyl flooring.

The main floor incorporates the kitchen and eating area with a living room across the front that opens out to a 8x16ft patio deck. The deck wraps around the east side of the cabin to the main entrance. There is a built-in settee in the corner of the living room with storage. A free-standing wood stove is centrally located in the space. Upstairs is a three-quarter loft, providing sleeping area for one or more.                                                           

Below the main living area is a semi-enclosed basement/full height crawl space – a perfect space for dry storage and mechanical equipment.

An addition that includes a bedroom and a 3 piece bathroom with a corner shower has been constructed at the side of the cabin with a separate entrance. All the materials are onsite to finish these rooms.

Just outside the main entrance and up a short flight of stairs is an outdoor shower. There is also an outhouse.

The primary power is by generator.

Located within the heart of the Discovery Island group and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery and an abundance of wildlife, the Sonora Island area offers all types of outdoor recreation and sport activities - fishing, boating, diving, and wildlife viewing, while seafood such as crab, prawns, clams and oysters are all available within minutes of this region. There are also a few marine parks to enjoy within close proximity, including the Octopus Island Group Marine Park which is only minutes away. Access to the property is by boat or float plane only.  Traveling to the property by boat takes a little less than 1 hour from Campbell River and approximately 40 minutes from Heriot Bay on Quadra Island. During the summer months there is regular scheduled water taxi service to and from Campbell River.
