Zeballos, 151 Maquinna Avenue

Zeballos, 151 Maquinna Avenue

This 338sqft home is in the Village of Zeballos, on the west coast of Vancouver Island. The small coastal hamlet is located approximately 14 nautical miles from the open west coast Pacific Ocean and one of the premier fishing regions on Vancouver Island as well as a great starting point for outdoor activities. It is 17 nautical miles from Tahsis, a small coastal community in the neighbouring inlet to the south.

151 Maquinna Ave is in the heart of the Village, and backs on to what is known as The Slough – a small offshoot from the estuary that the Village sits on. The property is nicely level, with the residence at the road creating a private back yard. There is a shed with power and a small greenhouse.

The residence, although small, is nicely kept. The home offers one bedroom, a three piece bathroom and an open kitchen and living space. A covered porch at the front of the home provides additional space and is a great spot to enjoy your morning coffee while looking out at mountain views.

The home is bright and modern inside, finished with stained shiplap. The corner kitchen has a stainless steel sink and counter, shelving and fridge. The current owner uses a hotplate however the home is wired for a cook range. At the other end of the living space a tile floor has been laid in preparation for a wood stove, which has been purchased but not installed. In addition a washer and dryer are at the property in the shed, however not fully installed.

This property could be a great small home residence, a vacation property/summer residence, or could be further developed.

Zeballos is on the west coast of Vancouver Island, accessed by road from Hwy 19 just north of Woss. This is a Forest Service gravel road and can be in varying condition throughout the year. The community of Zeballos first started with gold miners, and then became a logging hub. Now its biggest draw is tourism - as coastal explorers and fishermen come to visit the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. There is both fresh water and salt water fishing, as the Zeballos River runs through town. The community has a population of approximately 100 and there are limited services, including a medical clinic, general store, marina and boat fuel sales. In the summer there are a number of accommodation options. Zeballos calls itself the Golden Gate to the West Coast. It offers access to Nootka Sound and the fishing on the west coast of the island, as well as the provincial parks of the northern Island (Woss, Brooks Peninsula, Cape Scott).
