This recently constructed boutique hotel is the primary facility and accommodation of its kind in the Village of Zeballos. Constructed within the last six years, the Zeballos Hotel offers 7 guest suites, manager/owner’s accommodation, café and bar.

The small coastal community of Zeballos has a high demand for rental accommodations, for visitors and contractors in the area on both a day-to-day and long-term basis. The small coastal hamlet is located approximately 14 nautical miles from the open west coast Pacific Ocean and one of the premier fishing regions on Vancouver Island. It is 17 nautical miles from Tahsis, a small coastal community in the neighbouring inlet to the south.

The Zeballos Hotel is not currently operating. It did operate for a short period of time therefore all systems and equipment function. The construction project was reaching its final stages of completion when it shut down. The lion’s share of the work has been done however some finishing details are required to the upper deck, the southern exterior, the lobby, the manager/owner suite and a few minor things throughout the building. Once the hotel is back in operation it would be the only service provider of a bar and restaurant and would be the nicest accommodations in town.

On the ground level is the reception area, three public washrooms, manager’s office, mechanical room, laundry/housekeeping room and sitting area. There is a full commercial kitchen with direct access to the café/restaurant as well as the bar. The bar is fully self-contained with a large seating area and an outside deck. The previous liquor license has expired so a new license would need to be acquired to operate the bar.

All rooms have over-height ceilings and recessed lighting. There are substantial mechanical systems including two on-demand hot water systems.

The guest rooms are on the upper level, accessed from an exterior landing. The suites are nicely appointed with either one or two queen size beds, full three piece bathrooms, wall-mounted flat screen TVs, alcove desk areas and wall-mounted climate control systems for heating and air conditioning.

The manager/owner suite, also on the upper level, is very spacious, approx. 1000sqft, with an open living concept that incorporates the kitchen, dining and living area. There is a loft area which could be utilized in a number of ways, plus two large bedrooms with full ensuites. There is wood and tile flooring in the suite.

On this upper level is also a large, covered patio area for guests. There are beautiful mountain views from much of the upstairs.

The exterior of the building has a metal roof. A grounds clean-up around the property is required and it appears that much of the material and equipment required to complete the unfinished work is on the property.

The building encroaches on Village property, Crown land and the Department of Highways roadway. The Village of Zeballos has expressed a willingness to cooperate with and support considerations to assist a new owner in bringing the hotel business back in to operation.

Zeballos is on the west coast of Vancouver Island, accessed by road from Hwy 19 just north of Woss. This is a Forest Service gravel road and can be in varying condition throughout the year. The community of Zeballos first started with gold miners, and then became a logging hub. Now its biggest draw is tourism - as coastal explorers and fishermen come to visit the rugged west coast of Vancouver Island. There is both fresh water and salt water fishing, as the Zeballos River runs through town. The community has a population of approximately 100 and there are limited services, including a medical clinic, general store, marina and boat fuel sales. In the summer there are a number of accommodation options. Zeballos calls itself the Golden Gate to the West Coast. It offers access to Nootka Sound and the fishing on the west coast of the island, as well as the provincial parks of the northern Island (Woss, Brooks Peninsula, Cape Scott).
