Certainly One of
Quadra Island's Premier Oceanfront Acreages
|
|
|
From the moment one steps on the property,
one cannot help but be captivated by the beauty of
this acreage, and the lay of the land in this truly
special location. Located on the East side of Quadra
Island at the end of a no thru road this triangular
shaped property fans out to capture an extensive,
diverse oceanfront that takes in 2 small bays and
a portion of a peninsula - a location that offers
excellent privacy, great sun exposure and good protection
from extreme weather.
|
|
|
|
The central
portion of the acreage and the area surrounding the
existing residence have been nicely cleared and manicured
into rolling lawns with an expansive vegetable garden
and a driveway network that meanders throughout the
property. The balance of the property is in its natural
state and covered with a beautiful, mature forest. |
| The current
dwelling is a modest yet solid 1000 sq.ft. building
with quite a history. The structure was in fact built
in 1914 and is what we refer to as a camp, skid house.
During its life it has traveled throughout the coast
and been in a number of locations as a living accommodation.
It now rests just steps from the ocean in a picturesque
little bay on this property. As much as it is warm and
dry and certainly livable, there is no doubt that this
property begs for the development of a new residence
equal to and to complement the caliber of this land.

This acreage
offers more than a few tremendous locations for the
construction of a new home. The shop on the property
measures 20 x 36 and has an extensive overhang that
provides covered outdoor storage. It is a relatively
new, attractive building finished in cedar and has an
independent electrical service. |
|
|
|
|
Another significant benefit this
property offers is protected deepwater moorage. Tucked
into the West bay of the property is a substantial
moorage facility, constructed on and held in place
with steel pilings. The standing pier, ramp and dock
are all constructed with treated or galvanized steel
with the appropriate wood finishing and tie downs
around the dock to protect and secure boats. Very
few properties on Quadra, especially in this location
provide this degree of protected deepwater moorage.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
The internal
driveways provide vehicle access to the head of a dock.
Services include hydro electricity, telephone, an approved
septic system with the capacity for a 3- bedroom residence
and an 80 ft drilled well that produces good volumes
of domestic water.
If you are looking for something very special in
an oceanfront property with the intention of building
your dream home, this is a must see.
|
| The property
has good road access. It is located approximately 20
minutes from Heriot Bay, where there are a variety of
services available such as marinas, hotel, restaurant,
pub, grocery and liquor stores, hardware stores and
mail service. Seven minutes further to the south is
Quathiaski Cove with regularly scheduled ferry service
to Campbell River. Quathiaski Cove area also has additional
shopping facilities, which include fuel service, credit
union, building supply centre, drugstore, grocery store,
U-brew, in addition to a variety of other retail services.
Most everything one requires as far as supplies and
services can be acquired on the island. Quadra Island
is the largest (approximately 34 km long) and most populated
(approximately 3,800 full-time residents) of the Discovery
Island group. It lies between Campbell River on Vancouver
Island and the mainland coast of British Columbia, off
Canada's west coast. |
|
|
| Quadra residents
enjoy a rural lifestyle surrounded by a clean unspoiled
environment. The breathtaking wilderness scenery, mild
temperate climate, and natural beauty make it a popular
destination for visitors from around the world. There
are complete services on the island as well as a wide
variety of accommodation and dining from deluxe resorts
to rustic campsites. Unlimited adventure recreation
includes sport fishing, diving, hiking on over 200 km
of hiking trails, sea kayaking, powerboat and sailing.
There are many beaches, sheltered coves, protected channels
and islets along the intricate shoreline and the rich
waters fed by large tidal exchanges nourish abundant
marine life. All regular services are available on Quadra
and the full service community of Campbell River on
Vancouver Island is just a 10-minute ferry ride away
from Quathiaski Cove. From Heriot Bay, ferry service
operates to Whaletown on Cortes Island. |
