An Outstanding Quadra Island Oceanfront Package

1 Oceanfront Acre with an impressive custom-crafted log home,
detached double garage
with studio suite and boat moorage.

This outstanding oceanfront property is situated on the southern tip of a peninsula in the Northern portion of Gowlland Harbour on Quadra Island. The exposure is due south and the views across Discovery Passage and beyond to Campbell River and Vancouver Island with Mt. Washington and the Strathcona mountain ranges as the backdrop are spectacular.

The tidal waters of Discovery Passage also provide for a variety of marine wildlife to enjoy at your doorstep. Having deer and bald eagles around is almost a daily occurrence. This area on Quadra Island is quite exclusive, in that there are very few homes in the area and properties range in size from 1 to 40 acres. Road access to the property has been gated off to ensure privacy and maintain security.
The acreage is beautifully treed and for the most part in its natural state. There is approximately 230 feet of oceanfront and the home is perched some 25 feet above the water. Services include electricity, telephone, broadband internet & domestic water from a shared system with 2 neighbours, supplied from a drilled well with pumps, filters and storage contained in a separate out-building close to the property. There is a small bay in the front of the property that provides some sheltered, semi-private moorage.
The log home is truly a work of art! Built in 1996 in a traditional fashion with large Cedar logs from the Interior of British Columbia and Fir beams taken from the property and milled on site along with some of the fine edge-grain Fir used for the finishing and the trims.

The quality of craftsmanship is apparent. In this construction they utilized the Norwegian "double-notched" design that adds unique styling and ultimate structural integrity.

Extensive decking wraps around the entire home incorporating a sunken hot tub into the deck. There is lots of outdoor area to enjoy this fabulous setting and the views.

The centerpiece to this beautiful home is a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace with a heatilator airtight firebox. The selection of stones come from all four corners of Quadra Island - they provide an array of colors that is truly spectacular with finishing touches such as a native theme within the placement of the stones themselves and a hand carved Cedar mantle with a West Coast native design. The entire home is warm and inviting, the main living area is impressive with a 32' open vaulted ceiling with floor-to-ceiling windows.
There are three bedrooms in the home with one on the main level and two on the second storey - all very generous in size. Other accents and finishings include tile flooring, quality carpeting, cherry wood hearth and more native crafted detailing in various parts throughout the home.
The main bathroom offers some comfortable features such as a large corner jetted soaker tub, separate shower and large vanity with double sinks. The bathroom is also utilized as the laundry room. The kitchen is nicely appointed with custom maple wood cabinetry and a centre island adjacent to a spacious dining area. Sliding doors lead right to the deck for convenient barbequing and entertaining.

In addition to the main residence, other structures include a newly constructed 30 X 24 foot double garage with a fabulous studio suite above. Nicely appointed and finished throughout, the studio has quality carpeting, a full 3-piece bath and a large deck across the south end from where one can take in the setting and the views.
The exterior is cedar board and batten. The suite is serviced with a heat pump, which provides excellent climate control. Ideal as a private studio or to accommodate guests and would also serve well as a B & B

Another outbuilding on the property includes a well-constructed power shed and storage building finished in the same West Coast style. Domestic water source is from a drilled 40ft communal well and shared with two of the neighbour's properties.

Foreshore improvements include a quality concrete and cedar dock with aluminium ramp, situated a few hundred feet to the southeast in front of the neighbouring property. This is a private dock and is shared with 3 of the neighbouring properties.

Access to Quadra Island is via regularly scheduled passenger/car ferry service from Campbell River to Quathiaski Cove. From here it is a 20-minute drive - the last 6 kms of this drive is on a private Forest Service road that helps maintain the overall privacy that this location has to offer. Properties on the west side of Quadra Island offering this variety of features seldom come available.
Quadra Island is the largest (approximately 34 km long) and most populated (approximately 3,800 full-time residents) of the Discovery Island group. It lies between Campbell River on Vancouver Island and the mainland coast of British Columbia, off Canada's west coast. Quadra residents enjoy a rural lifestyle surrounded by a clean unspoiled environment. The breathtaking wilderness scenery, mild temperate climate, and natural beauty make it a popular destination for visitors from around the world. There are complete services on the island as well as a wide variety of accommodation and dining from deluxe resorts to rustic campsites. Unlimited adventure recreation includes sport fishing, diving, hiking on over 200 km of hiking trails, sea kayaking, powerboat and sailing. There are many beaches, sheltered coves, protected channels and islets along the intricate shoreline and the rich waters fed by large tidal exchanges nourish abundant marine life. All regular services are available on Quadra and the full service community of Campbell River on Vancouver Island is just a 10-minute ferry ride away from Quathiaski Cove. From Heriot Bay, ferry service operates to Whaletown on Cortes Island.
