It simply doesn't get
much better when it comes to a Discovery Island location. |

This property with its improvements
could accommodate a variety of applications. Certainly
ideal as a wilderness residence or vacation property
- it lends itself well for a group purchase or a corporate
retreat. The present owners have operated a vacation
bed & breakfast lodge accommodation over the years.
There is room to expand if one desires.

This
property is located on the southern shores of Sonora
Island nicely tucked into the West of Walter's Point,
which is on the West entrance to Owen Bay. In all respects
this is truly one of the most outstanding locations
one could find anywhere in the region. This 3.8-acre
property with over 400 feet of low bank oceanfront is
truly amazing and is in an extremely well protected
location with direct Southwest exposure and deepwater
moorage. An absolutely picturesque location with splendid
views across Okosollo Channel, of Okis Islands and the
Lower Rapids. |
| The region
surrounding this property teams with wildlife, and experiences
some of the most phenomenal tidal action known to this
area. Relatively quick easy access to mainland inlets
and a number of areas very close by that provide excellent
crabbing, prawning, fishing amongst numerous other opportunities. |
|
|
|
The
property for the most part has a very gentle sloping
topography and is surrounded by Crown Land and mature
2nd growth forest. Just to the West of the property
is a substantial creek, which drains from St. Aubyn
Lake. This water supply provides year round water as
well as the ability to generate electricity. The integrated
power system includes a water driven pelton wheel, which
supplies a bank of batteries connected to an inverter,
a generator for those times when additional power is
required and a propane system that provides fuel for
appliances. |
| During the
last 20 years the owners have done a superb job of developing
this property. Self sufficiency and the ability to live
independently goes without question. Over half the property
to the southwest and adjacent to the ocean has been
cleared and developed into expansive lawns, vegetable
and flower gardens, including an orchard, with small
buildings and fenced areas to accommodate chickens and
small livestock. |

There
are 3 residential structures on the property. These
include a self-contained 400 sq.ft. cottage, which is
approximately 18 years old, also a 900+ sq.ft. duplex
with lofts providing 2 fully self-contained units, offering
600 sq.ft. each. This duplex style cottage is about
12 years old. The newest dwelling and principal residence
is a 1300 sq.ft., 2 bedroom rancher. All of the buildings
have been extremely well placed and constructed, built
with materials that have been milled on site |
|
Each building has expansive decks
to enjoy the outdoor living and take in everything
this location has to offer. The principal residence
also has a large in deck hot tub. All of the dwellings
on the property are in very good repair. Each of the
four self-contained units have their own woodstove
and are fully furnished, equipped, and ready to use.
These have been very popular bed & breakfast lodge
accommodations over the years. There is cell phone
as well as satellite internet communication from this
location. The moorage facilities have been securely
in place for 20 years and provide approximately 160
ft of moorage.
