This oceanfront property sits along the southern shoreline of Safety Cove, on Calvert Island. Calvert Island sits off the central coast of BC, about 62 miles north of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. Open to the Pacific Ocean on the west side and facing the mouth of Rivers Inlet on the south end, the island is 20 miles long and 10 miles across at its widest. Safety Cove has provided shelter and moorage for both commercial boats and pleasure craft for generations.

This central coast region boast diverse natural features ranging from rugged coastline to glistening white sandy beaches with numerous waterways, islands and bays throughout the area. It is considered one of the premier sports fishing destinations and is also well known for kayaking and sport diving.

Featuring approx. 2300ft of frontage in Safety Cove, this 59 acre property is relatively steep, however there are a number of benches and plateaus that could be areas for development which offer diverse viewscapes and sun exposure.

There are views to the east and north-east looking out Safety Cove and across Fitz Hugh Sound to the mainland.

Calvert Island is home to the Hakai Institute, a scientific research, teaching and meeting centre. The majority of the island is within Conservancies governed by BC Parks and local First Nations, with just a handful of private properties on the entire island.

There are a few remote fishing lodges in the area, attracting select visitors from around the world to experience the amazing scenery and fishing of the region.

Services and supplies are available in Port Hardy on Vancouver Island located 60 miles to the south or in Shearwater/Bella Bella located 40 miles north as well as at Dawson’s Landing in River’s Inlet, situated about 12 miles to the east.
